CNC Machinist

We have an opportunity for CNC Machinists to join our rapidly growing team.

Rate of Pay: $21.60-$25.66 per hour

 

Summary:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the CNC Machinist is responsible for using computer numerically controlled (CNC) machinery safely and accurately to perform a variety of custom metal machining functions. Our ideal candidate would have previous CNC mill set-up and operation experience with a goal to further develop as a CNC Machinist and/or in a Tool & Die career. We offer a comprehensive training and development environment and opportunities for advancement. Our team is focused on continuous improvement, and we are willing to support the completion of apprenticeship programs for qualified candidates.

 

While not required, previous experience and technical knowledge of tooling within the automotive industry is a strong asset.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare metal parts for machining and set numerical codes on the machine to control speed, feed, toolpath, and other variables before guiding the parts through the machine
  • Set up steel parts using manual and mechanical lifting devices
  • Interpret blue prints and drawings, as required
  • Review design and program for potential errors and inefficiencies
  • Set up various cutting tools to support machining processes
  • Observe machining process and intervene if issues are detected
  • Measure parts with Tool Room measuring tools
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervision or Management
  • Perform job functions within the guidelines of Bowman’s Employee and Health & Safety policies, procedures and requirements
  • Perform job functions as identified and required in the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience with FANUC controls is an asset
  • Previous experience with CNC mill set-up and operation is considered an asset
  • Must possess a positive attitude, willingness to learn and participate in training programs
  • Must possess attention to detail
  • Must be continuous improvement oriented
  • Must be able to use mechanical and magnetic lifting devices
  • Previous Crane experience preferred, but not required
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team is required
  • Self-motivated and proven ability to work under minimum supervision is required
