Industrial Mechanic

Overall Function:
An Industrial Mechanic role typically involves the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial machinery after it’s been installed, focusing on keeping it operational. They identify and address malfunctions, using their knowledge of the machinery and diagnostic tools. They diagnose and fix problems with machinery, often working on individual components or systems, and are responsible for keeping machinery running smoothly, including regular maintenance checks.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform predictive preventative maintenance of equipment, manufacturing machinery and machine shop equipment and tools.
- Perform preventative maintenance on tools with hydraulic, pneumatic, and robotic systems.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment system faults, ensure adequate control and safety measures are working and enforced. Enlist OEM as required.
- Perform emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production, and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Support maintenance and operational needs. Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep detailed maintenance records (CMMS system, and ESA logbook).
- Maintain, repair, test, program and install electrical motors, hydraulics, pneumatic electrical control systems, sensors, and variable frequency drives.
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance to simple control networks.
- Identifying and recommending improvements to production lines and equipment to optimize efficiency and quality.
- Perform additional duties related to the scope and responsibilities of the role as required
Qualifications
- Related college degree/diploma program and/or 442A Electrician license
- 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a metal manufacturing environment an asset.
- Thorough understanding of provincial industrial building and safety codes
- Demonstrated diagnostic trouble shooting abilities.
- Mechanical, electrical/ electronic experience and training; robotics experience an asset.
- Comfortable with using computer applications and digital technology.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively, verbal and written, with a focus on teamwork
- Owns and maintains a complete set of basic hand tools

Physical Job Demand
This position requires a candidate to be able to perform these demands.
Walking: 4 - 6 hours per shift.
Standing: 1 - 2 hours per shift.
Sitting: 6 - 7 hours per shift.
Bending/Twisting: 4 - 6 hours per shift but not repetitive.
Lift Floor to waist: 1 - 2 hours per shift not consecutive up to 30kg.
Lift Waist to Shoulder: 1 - 2 hours per shift not consecutive up to 30kg.
Stair Climbing: Up to 12 steps.
Ability to Use Hands: Required to hold, grip, write, and use hand tools.
Repetitive Movements & Exposure: 2-8 hours per shift.
Above-Shoulder Pushing/Pulling: 4 - 6 hours per shift.
Exposure
- May be exposed to chemicals and/or lubricants
- May be exposed to noise and dust levels that are distracting or uncomfortable on a daily basis
Operating Motorized Vehicle
- Properly licensed and able to operate motorized equipment (forklift, scissor lift)

- Must be free from all recreational substances including alcohol.
- Any medication hindering ability to perform any one task restricted.
