Our client is looking for a Group Health Benefits Broker plays a vital role in partnering with businesses to design, implement, and manage comprehensive employee group benefits programs. Reporting directly to the President, this position involves working closely with various insurance carriers to negotiate tailored coverage plans that meet client needs, while ensuring full compliance with Ontario’s regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of the insurance industry, exceptional communication and negotiation skills, and a strong commitment to delivering client-focused solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

Marketing/Business Development:

 

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking and referrals, with a strong emphasis on leveraging the Commercial team’s existing client portfolio.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, both in-person and virtually, to engage prospective clients.
  • Build and nurture strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders to expand opportunities and enhance market reach.

Client Consultation and Program Design:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of client needs to recommend customized group health benefits solutions.
  • Educate clients on a range of benefits options, including health, dental, vision, disability, and wellness programs.
  • Regularly review and update client benefit programs to ensure they remain competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with business goals.

Policy Management and Negotiation:

  • Collaborate with multiple insurance carriers to obtain competitive quotes tailored to client requirements.
  • Negotiate policy terms and premiums to balance coverage needs and budget constraints.
  • Oversee the seamless implementation of selected policies, ensuring a smooth transition for clients.

Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:

What You Need to Bring:

  • In-depth understanding of group health benefits plans, including life, disability, health, dental, and wellness products.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the insurance market and Ontario-specific legislation.

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Exceptional negotiation and presentation skills.

  • Proven ability to build trust and rapport with diverse stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in analyzing client data to recommend effective solutions.

  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficiency in using benefits management software and tools.

  • Familiarity with CRM platforms for tracking client interactions.

  • Relevant post-secondary education in business, insurance, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years in group benefits or insurance brokerage.

  • Certifications: Valid LLQP (Life License Qualification Program) certification required; valid RIBO license preferred.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  1. Client Retention Rate: Maintain a client retention rate of 90% or higher annually.

  2. New Business Acquisition: Secure a minimum of 5 new group health clients per quarter.

  3. Revenue Growth: Achieve a 10% increase in brokerage revenue year-over-year.

  4. Client Satisfaction Score: Maintain an average satisfaction score of 4.5/5 or above in client feedback through the use of Google reviews.

  5. Policy Renewal Success: Achieve a renewal success rate of at least 95% for existing clients.

  6. Compliance Adherence: Ensure 100% compliance with Ontario regulations in all recommended plans.
