Role Overview:

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for managing the human, physical, and financial resources required to ensure the safety of staff, quality of work and the timely production of the Fergus Facility output.  They will directly oversee the Production, Maintenance, and Materials departments during regular business hours and may be the management representative for all activities in the non business hours while on their shift.

 

Duties:

  • Direct shift production personnel, ensuring the safety of staff and quality manufacturing of client product within established schedules, budgets and procedures
  • Communicate information relating to equipment, scheduling, inventory, quality, health and safety to appropriate staff and management as required.
  • Monitor performance of staff, identify training and development needs, ensure that performance/disciplinary actions are fully documented and reviewed by HR and Production Management
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of regular performance management programs with staff
  • Communicate and administer company policies and procedures and programs consistently with all staff
  • Participate in the selection, installation and preparation of capital expenditure requests (PAR’s) for new equipment
  • Develop and manage relationships with vendors
  • Liaise with the Planning department to ensure day to day scheduling is optimized
  • Participate in preparation of annual budgets and quarterly reviews

 

Requirements:

  • Post secondary diploma or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required
  • Working knowledge of print/post processing technology
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven trouble shooting abilities in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • General knowledge of print related quality control concepts, previous exposure to ISO 9001 would be an asset
  • Strong computer skills - MS Office, GMAIL, Shop Floor and ERP software would be an asset
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills 
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to follow applicable SOP’s, SWP’s and WHMIS Regulations
  • Ability to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 work week with the option of 24/5 as per business needs.
