Millwright / Maintenance Mechanic

Starting hourly rate is: $37.74/hour

Shift: 2-week rotating continental

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the focus of this role is to repair and maintain all equipment used in the plant. This is primarily achieved through daily support of all processes completing Emergency, Corrective, Preventive and Predictive Maintenance (PM) tasks.

The Maintenance Technician is a member of the maintenance team and as such, participates in team efforts to achieve assigned department goals; works closely with other team members to ensure all maintenance activities are completed on time, according to SOPs and regulatory requirements; and provides support to other roles within the maintenance team. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Verifies that machine guarding is in place, interlocks are in working condition at all times and applies proper LOTO (lockout tagout) procedures to equipment during repair
  • Identifies and reports unsafe conditions / near misses and accidents in a timely manner
  • Completes Preventative, Predictive and Corrective Maintenance routines according to the Master PM schedule
  • Works closely with production identifying and correcting all Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatic and Hydraulic problems ensuring equipment is functioning properly, operating safely and running efficiently
  • Contacts equipment suppliers as required to gain information on equipment operation, maintenance or parts required
  • Applies a methodical approach to problem solving/diagnosing of mechanical/electrical issues
  • Identifies and coordinates improvements to address down time or efficiency issues
  • Develops written recommendations for Preventative and Predictive Maintenance routines
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum grade 12 education
  • Industrial Mechanic Millwright certification or equivalent 
  • 3+ years’ experience working as a Maintenance Technician in a food related industry
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
