POSITION: Senior Accountant

Corporation: Skyline Investments Inc. – based out of Toronto, Ontario

Employment Type: Full Time – 1 year contract

 

Skyline Investments Inc. is an investment, asset management and development company that owns hotels and resorts in Canada and the United States and develops real estate on land surrounding its resorts.

 

Skyline Investments Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its team on a 1-year contract with the possibility of an extension to the contract or a conversion to a full-time role with the company at the end of the contract term. Skyline currently offers a hybrid work from home/work from office model.

 

The Position:

Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting, the Senior Accountant duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Consolidation of financial statements including:
    • Editing of FS as well as analysis and quality assurance tests including:
      • Balance sheet, P&L cash flow statement
      • Notes and disclosures to the FS as well as preparation of accounting Memos etc.
      • Providing data for other reports such as MD&A/Prospect uses etc.
    • Financial calculations including:
      • Bond and loan amortization and effective interest calculations
      • Fair value accounting treatment
      • Intercompany reconciliations
      • Foreign operations translations under IAS21
    • Communication with Company’s auditors
    • Assist with SOX documentation
    • Preparation of consolidated standalone (Equity method) financial
    • Assist with the preparation of other presentations and management reports, as required
  • Monthly preparation and/or review of:
    • Bank reconciliations
    • HST returns
    • Accounts receivable
    • Accounts payable
    • Other journal entries, as required

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Development/real estate experience an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (outlook, word, excel)
  • Experience with Power BI, Power Query, M language, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a significant advantage but not required
  • Organized
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Time management
  • Accounting experience (academic or on-the-job) preferred
  • Previous Development Accounting experience is an asset
  • Attained or working towards accounting designation (CGA or CPA) preferred
